Requirements
Ordained ministry respesents a unique combination of privilege and responsibility; which makes it both rewarding and challenging. As a Church we seek to help individuals to use the resources of their parish and diocesan communities in clarifying their call to ordained ministry.
Training for the ordained ministry is toward the priesthood and/or the diaconate.
Academic achievement, a life of caring and compassion, a history of personal struggle and courage, a strong personal sense of being called - all of these are valuable, but do not of themselves constitute a call to ordination.
Requirements
The qualities that the Church looks for in its ordained leadership include:
- Spiritual
- Personal
- Public
- Leadership
Professional Ethics
The Church has the highest expectations of its leaders that they show a moral integrity upon which others could model their lives.
The Child Protection Committee of the Anglican Church of Australia has produced a very important Draft Code of Profession Ethics for Clergy and Lay Workers - with which all clergy and layleaders need to be familiar - titled Faithfulness in Service, this and other publications are also available from www.anglican.org.au
