Ordained Ministry

If you feel that God is calling you to be an ordained Deacon or Priest, you will begin the formal process of discernment, study and formation. It is important to note that this is a long and difficult process and not all candidates will be ordained.

Requirements

There are five key elements that describe the journey of formation and the grounds on which suitability is assessed:

  1. Spiritual formation
  2. Personal development and life in community
  3. Academic studies
  4. Theological reflection
  5. Skills development

Process

These five elements operate over all stages of this process and encompass

  1. Year of enquiry
  2. 3 years of College formation
  3. 3 years of post-ordination training

The Archbishop decides who is to be ordained in relation to the criteria.
