Formative Anglican Induction for School Staff (FAISS)

The FAISS program (Formative Anglican Induction for School Staff) does a wonderful job of enabling school staff to explore just what the word ‘Anglican’ might mean in their school context.
The program runs for a full day and is aimed at the entirety of school staff, including teaching, support, administration, and ground staff.
Components of the day include history, a look at the Anglican schools Ethos statement, the Archbishop’s Seven Marks of Mission in a school context, as well as a teaching Eucharist, a tour of the school site exploring Anglican ‘icons’ and some staff sharing.
We acknowledge the differing backgrounds and ranges of experience of staff as a starting point, so there is no exclusion of anyone. Apprehension that some staff have had, thinking the day would be an attempt to persuade them to be Anglican, is quickly dispelled.
The program features a wide range of delivery styles, is highly interactive, and has received great evaluations from the range of schools that have experienced it so far. Those schools are:
- Coomera Anglican College,
- St Lukes Anglican School Bundaberg (where we were asked back to address their Speech Night),
- Canterbury College,
- St Hilda’s School Southport,
- Matthew Flinders Anglican College,
- West Moreton Anglican College,
- Fraser Coast Anglican College,
- Forest Lake and
- Springfield Colleges and Cannon Hill Anglican College.
Cost of the day to the school is a $500 fee for the presentation itself, plus a $5 donation on behalf of each participant for the Eucharist Explained resource, which each staff member receives.
