Discerning Your Call

God, is that you?

There are many different kinds of vocation. Some people have a calling to lay ministry in their work and social life, some contribute their talents to their faith community, and some feel called to full-time ministry as an ordained Deacon or Priest.

Sometimes we think we are called to a certain kind of ministry, but the process of discernment reveals directions we never thought likely. We must be open to God’s will, whether it means being a member of a religious order, an electrician, or Archbishop of Canterbury.

Beginning Discernment

1.Uncovering God’s call starts with prayer and reflection. You should also seek advice and guidance from your parish priest, and other faithful people whom you trust.

2.You can then come to one of the Ministry Education Commission’s regular Calling & Vocation BBQs. By hearing other people’s stories and by spending time with other seekers you can experience the process of discovering your vocation in an open and supportive environment.

In the Diocese of Brisbane it is our mission to help you discern your vocation and to train, equip and support you to follow it. There is nothing to lose.
